The Challenge

The catch-up economic development of Vietnam in recent years does not make a difference for some children in the backward provinces. They are still suffering from severe malnutrition for their parents’ inadequate knowledge of balanced diet and health care for children. Besides, some ethnic minorities in mountain areas find it difficult to integrate into the community and receiving education because of language barriers and cultural differences.

30% of the children in Thai Nguyen are malnourished.

Around 24% of the population in Lai Chau live in poverty.

Poorly-equipped schools and incompetent teachers lead to the unpleasant learning environment for children.

With AEA’s help, Ms. Dua and her husband could expand their farming business by growing rice and keep chickens, pigs, and fishes. Now they can meet their daily needs and improve their living standard.

Ms. Dua and her family have been working as farmers. They could only earn a few dollars every day and bare sustain their lives. Even though she knew that good nutrition is important for children’s growth, she cannot afford basic food such as rice, vegetables, and salt for her two children.

With AEA’s help, now they can meet their daily needs and improve their living standard. More importantly, they came to understand the importance of healthy diet for their children.
